The court’s oracle has a gift for exact predictions delivered in language nobody finds useful until afterward. He foretold the bread shortage in a dialect understood by three frogs. His age is unrecorded: each attempt to ask produces an answer about the moon. The three portraits are undated archival likenesses, not a verified chronology. Willowfeather has marked this distinction six times.

The hat appears in all three paintings. It may be older than he is.

Compare the staged portraits at the same life stage, not the same calendar date. Vesper has one contemporary portrait. Dates and ages are fictional calendar seasons, not published story seasons.
